1 Peter 2:24 NASB “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.”
Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection satisfied the claims of justice that Satan held against humanity. He by His blood purchased salvation for all men (Tit.2:11). However, salvation is not just limited to the remission of sins. It is an all encompassing redemption of the human destiny from the woes of sin and death. The salvation that we enjoy in Christ was payment to redeem man from destruction of sin and its consequences, which are eternal separation from God, poverty and sickness.
In the great redemption chapter in Isaiah 53, the prophet writes with a forward perspective on the coming redemption of man through Jesus Christ, saying, “But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” (NLT). Sickness and disease are a consequence of the Adamic sin. Along with redeeming mankind from sin, God healed man. Peter attests to this when he wrote concerning Jesus saying, “by His wounds you were healed”.
In essence, just as your salvation is a reality before God, so is your healing. The temptation to sin is not what makes a sinner a “sinner”, but the nature of sin within. Likewise, the symptoms of sickness and disease that come upon your body cannot define you as sick. Rather, in the eyes of God as seen through the Scriptures, you are the healed of God that has to fight to protect your health. Learn to receive healing by faith from God. Jesus went about healing all who were sick and oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38). If He is the same forevermore, it follows that healing belongs to you today.
Prayer: Lord I thank you because I know I am healed spiritually through redemption in Christ Jesus. I thank you because as a result of salvation, I am emotionally healed, and by the wounds of Jesus, all symptoms in my body are gone in Jesus Name!
