Psalm 128:2 NIV “You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.”
It is said that the average family is just one paycheck away from being broke. This reality seems to be the unconscious driver for many people to continually work even in areas in which they feel unfulfilled. As a result, many people are working to pay bills or satisfy a lifestyle that they imagined they ought to be living. However this is not what God has in mind for His people. It is His desire that we work to release potential because it in so doing we enjoying the fruits of labor. When God placed man in the Garden in Genesis 1, He instructed that man would eat of the fruit of the Garden (Gen.1:29). How was this to happen? Through this instruction, “to work it and take care of it [the Garden].” (Gen.2:15).
The word toil means exhausting labor and effort, and this is not desire for you. It is God who gives blessing and prosperity, and He has promised that this shall be yours. Rather than be nervous about what the future holds for you, put your trust in the God who knows the future. He has said in Jeremiah 17:7-8 that blessed is the man who trusts in Him and whose hope is solely in Him. Such a person will be like an ever flourishing tree that needs not worry or be concerned about austere circumstances that may come.
As you work this week, focus on releasing God given potential that is lodged within you. Be confident in the fact that whatsoever things you set your hands to do shall prosper because God has promised this towards His own. Work hard, but never work in fear. Rather work with the expectation of blessings and fruitfulness being manifested, for you will surely eat the fruit of your labor.
