2 Corinthians 12:7-10 NIV “I was given a thorn in my flesh…Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
As we go through life we face difficult situations on the way to our goals. Not necessarily because we are doing anything particularly wrong but simply because the world out there is filled with challenges. Paul the apostle writes that he had a difficult situation to deal with, and he pleaded with God to take the difficulties, but God’s response was, “my grace is sufficient for you…”
God expects that we learn to lean on His grace in times of difficulty. It is an endless reserve of power that is available for those who will draw by faith. Paul eventually understood this and said, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
When things get difficult for you, keep pressing on. Realize that in your perceived weakness, the grace of God is available to make you strong. He has said in Hebrews 4:16 to come to the throne of grace to receive help. He never turns anyone down who approaches Him with confidence and earnest expectation. Keep your eye focused on God’s super abounding ability rather than on the challenges you face, and you will come out victorious in the midst of it all!
