What to do when Victory seems to be Lost
What to do you do when you are discouraged and victory seems to be lost? You believe the Word of God, you have confessed the Word, but it still seems not to be enough.
Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having”
As New Testament believers, we are called to live a life of faith. Faith in God and His Word is necessary for the survival and strength of the human spirit. We live in a world with pressures and challenges that come day by day, however, 1 John 5:4 exhorts that our faith in God and His Word is the key to victorious living in the harsh conditions of this world. Now what happens when it seems like faith is not working and victory seems to be lost in life? The Scripture above gives the answer, “and having done all, to stand. Stand”!
If you are discouraged in life, victory seems to be lost, and you feel that you don’t have enough to change your situation, you need faith. Faith is a spiritual tool with which we make spiritual transactions. Hebrews 11:1 calls it a title deed. In essence faith is the assurance, and confirmation of things we believe for. Understanding faith begins with understanding that everything we perceive with our five senses has its origin in the spiritual world. Reference to this truth is seen in Hebrews 11:3 says “by faith through the word of God, the world was framed, so that the things which are seen were made from things which are unseen”. It took the unseen realities of the of God’s word to produce what was seen. Hence there are no indications with our natural senses that point to the strength of our faith. Rather with our spirit we discern and work our faith. It is the strength of one’s heart through the working of faith that spiritual realities, because faith is tangible.
As we exercise faith in God and His Word, if things begin to look awry, and victory seems to be lost, it is important to know that faith is not evidenced by what is seen (2 Cor. 5:7) and that it is not God that is holding back the manifestations so desired. A perfect example is seen in Daniel 10, when he prayed for a certain revelation, the angel with his manifestation said as recorded in Daniel 10:12-13:
““Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.””
If you are discouraged and struggling with life, and victory seems to be lost, recognize that the devil has taken it upon himself to put up distractions that will be hindrances to the manifestation of the working of faith, but faith will always prevail!
Faith is a title deed. Like a title deed indicates ownership of property, likewise faith indicates the ownership of the things we so desire. It takes firstly conceiving in one’s heart as a vivid image the promises of God’s word. This image becomes so real that it invokes one into corresponding action (Jam. 2:17). It is at this point that faith is perfected and the manifestation is seen in the natural. Where there is a delay in manifestation, one must know that it is not God that is delaying or holding back your manifestation.
When you are discouraged in life, and victory seems to be, the first principle is to note that to operate in faith is to operate independent of any natural sensory evidence. God’s word are spiritual, Jesus said in John 6:63 that God’s words are spirit and life. God’s words are the building block of things in the realm of the spirit. Jesus in Mark 11 cursed the fig tree. His confidence was in the words He spoke, not in what the tree looked like after he spoke. He paid no attention to the tree, neither did He watch to see what would happen. That’s why he taught “whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” It is from God’s word that faith is built, the images of spiritual realities are conceived in one’s heart, and it’s in speaking these words with conviction that things are created and possessed (Rom.10:17, 2 Cor.4:13)
While we hold on to the title deed of the things hoped for, what happens? It’s in this time of waiting that many loose heart. It is i this waiting period that many feel victory seems to be lost. This however brings up the next point, faith works independent of time. Time is a creation by God, and is relevant in this world, but because faith is spiritual, there ought not be any pressure from time. Faith dominates time. Faith remains constant even as time passes by, because it has taken possession in the realm of the spirit. Hebrews 6:12 says that it is by faith and patience one inherits the promise. Patience does not mean passively waiting for time to pass, but actively engaging one’s spirit to violently bring into manifestation spiritual realities. Abraham is given as an example of one who through faith and patience inherited the promise. Though he had no offspring, at 75 God made a promise to Abraham that he will have an offspring. At that age, victory seemed lost for Abraham. But God called him a father of nations, even though that looked impossible. However, Romans 4:18 says that Abraham believed in the hope of God’s word, contrary to what his circumstances told him. So how did he keep strong in faith to obtain the promise?
Romans 4:19-22 “not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.”
His faith was strengthened in his praise. While you stand waiting to see your manifestation, spend your time in thanksgiving and praise, because you are more spirit conscious. You know that by faith you have possessed what it is that you are believing for. You have the evidence of your manifestation in God’s word, you lay hold of your title deed, which is faith in the word of God convinced in your heart. You’re constantly declaring out loud and with thanksgiving and praise, “It’s mine! I have it!”
So if you are feeling discouraged and victory seems to be lost, and you have done all you know to do, after doing all to stand…Keep standing, keep believing, keep praising and keep loving!
