Acts 20:32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified”
Paul was leaving those he loved in the city of Ephesus and he knew that it would probably be their final conversation in this life. Despite all the teachings and experiences and communion he shared with them, he knew that they will still go through tough times and he would need to leave them encouraged. Paul didn’t just commend them to God but also the “word of His grace”.
These days many Christians, who mean well, hear the struggles of another person and they encourage them and say nice things like “You have to trust God” or “You need to get closer to God”. Those are great truths because they point people to God. However this is not the complete picture. They don’t only need to look to God, but they need the “word of His grace” because this is what would build them up and deliver to them the inheritance that God has in store for them.
The grace of God is God’s enabling power for the benefit of humanity. It is a free gift that we receive by faith. God’s word contains the enabling power of God. The “word of His grace” are the words God has spoken. They contain the power that will edify, build and prepare us for what God has to offer beyond the limits of our own strength. God has a storehouse of solutions for you in every situation that you find yourself. His grace is available for you to triumph in life, your responsibility is to find the appropriate Word and believe it.
No matter what limitations you’re facing in life, I ask you to look to God, and the word of His grace; find what He has said about you in that situation, and believe it. It will build you up, and deliver to you the strength, inheritance or gift necessary for you to win!
