1 Peter 1:3 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”
The New Birth experience is a spiritual experience that involves the recreation of the inward nature of a person. It’s a heart change from evil to a hear that is pointed to God. Many people find it hard to conceive the idea of how the prayer for salvation in Christ Jesus changes one’s nature. It’s because it’s not a natural common sense experience, but a spiritual concept. 1 Cor. 2:14 makes us understand that a person, except by the Spirit of God cannot understand the things of the spirit. The Bible however sheds some light as to how this can be conceived.
Jesus came as a sinless man, stepped down from His position in glory that He may identify with lay men. Mankind in himself could not fulfill the righteous requirements of the law and year after year sacrifices were being made to atone for the sins that were as a result of the sin nature of man. So every year, Israel by the high priest sacrificed a lamb onto God, but this sacrifice was only potent enough to cover the sins of man. God could by this sacrifice defer the judgment on man for another year. However Jesus came as a substitute. Though He was sinless, He was accused and condemned as a sinner. He was crucified under the directive of the high priest as one who had committed a crime against God. It was through this God could impute all that had been deferred in the account of mankind’s sin and transfer to the sinless account of Jesus, in exchange all that would accept this sacrifice would be made righteous.
Then God released His judgment on the sins of mankind that Jesus carried, and He (Jesus) was smitten by God, sent to hell. Jesus satisfied the claims of justice, and God who sits as the Supreme Judge of the Universe declared it enough. Man’s redemption was a fact. He raised Jesus up from the dead. Gave Him New Life for He had met the requirements of justice. Likewise all who would accept this sacrifice of love would be born anew; born again from spiritual death to a newness of Life.
Make a decision for Christ today, by accepting Him as Lord.
