John 15:8 NKJV “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit…”
When a bunch of bananas is cut off the vine, it appears to be okay for a while. After sitting on the counter top for a couple of days, then it begins to blight. This typifies what happens when a Christian stays away from communion with God through fellowship with the Word and the Spirit of God. Jesus said it is the Spirit that gives life, and the words that I speak are spirit and life (John 6:63). In essence, He was saying that the sustenance of all life is drawn by being vitally connected to the Spirit of God and feeding on the Word.
Jesus is the true vine, and when He said “without me you can do nothing” (John 15:4), He meant it. The strength of our Christian lives is seen in how much dependency we have on Him. To be fruitful as a Christian means to mimic attributes of Christ’s character (which is love) and to produce results like He did. Fruitfulness as a Christian cannot be faked. If you feel your spiritual life is lacking vitality, then you need to restore your connection with God.
No matter where you are, you can get to where you need to be in Christ. Begin to set time aside to worship God, make it a habit to study God’s Word daily, and expect Him to speak to your heart. You can find methods of studying the Bible here. Recognize that God is love (1 John 4:8), to be a Christian is to be born of God (1 John 5:4), which means you are born of love. Hence, you must grow in your ability to love like God loves. Putting away strife, malice, the desire to revenge, and making a commitment to bless, give and empower others in love. The attributes of the God kind of love are found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
God is glorified when you bear much fruit. You can be reconnected and bring glory to God toady. Take action now!
