Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NLT) “Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed”
Have you ever wondered why some people get paid more even though they don’t exert as much physical effort or work as long hour and others less with more labor? It’s because the one who solves the greater problem is of greater value. The mind is potentially a reservoir of great wealth if adequately cultivated.
Education is from a Latin word that means “bring forth what is within”. God has placed inside everyone of us a reservoir of great treasures of wisdom and knowledge. It takes a faithful consistent education of oneself to bring forth what is within. It is important to note that education is not limited to going to college, while that may give one an edge, it goes beyond that. An attitude that constantly seeks for knowledge, training of the mind, exercising discipline of one’s will and taking possession of one’s emotions is the key to a prosperous life. It takes the prosperity of the mind, will and emotions to live a life in health and all round prosperity (3 John 2).
If work seems redundant, or your progress in life seems stagnant, then the problem is likely stagnation in our learning. Buy a book, go for a seminar, refuse to be ignorant, and seek knowledge above all others. The primary source of knowledge is the Word of God, because it sets the pace and the boundary of our learning, and it also develops our ability to grasp and understand. I leave you with this charge in 2 Tim. 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”
