Proverbs 14:12 NIV “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”
None of us has the ability to see the whole future, and though we may plan effectively, our plans are always based on what is happening now and what has happened before hand. For us to lead a successful life we must have direction. If you are in Christ, though you do not know the future, you know Him who holds the future in His hands. God is an all knowing God; He knows the end from the beginning (Isa.46:10). If we stick with Him and seek His face every step of the way in our journey through life, He will steer us in the right direction.
It is God’s desire to lead His people. David in Psalms 23 describes Him as a shepherd. Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd” (Joh.10:11-14). Shepherds lead, guide, direct and protect. When you submit your every plan to God, trusting Him to lead you, guide you, and protect you, you are sure to end up in green pastures. Isaiah 48:21 speaks of how God led Israel through the harsh conditions of the wilderness, but they were not thirsty. He brought forth water [to cool them, satisfy them, and refresh them] even in the midst of an impossible situation.
It’s simple, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” (Prov.16:3). Not only that, you also need to learn to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Prov.3:5-6)
