Genesis 1:28 “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion…”
When God created mankind, He had a purpose for humanity as a whole. Everyone born into the earth has a purpose, a role to play as a part of God’s overarching plan. This plan is to establish the system of heaven on earth, or to establish a physical heaven upon the earth. He created man upon the earth for the purpose of dominion (Gen.1:26). Dominion means authority, rule, administration. In order for mankind to have such authority, rule, and administration, to establish heaven on earth God blessed them. To bless is to speak good of, in deeper understanding to bless is to by faith empower to produce fruit. Faith is a heart expression of confidence, and it is released by words, hence the statement “God blessed them saying…”
God’s blessing over man was released in three dimensions. The first be fruitful and multiply: every single one of us has an innate potential which is always in a seed form. It is our responsibility by the empowerment of the blessing to have that seed of potential bear fruit, and not stop there, but multiply in fruits. So let your potential produce results, and keep working on improving it. The second dimension was fill the earth and subdue it. This can be translated refill the earth and overwhelm it. Your God given potential is meant for the entire world. You have in you a piece of the puzzle to establish heaven upon the earth. While you produce results, don’t be limited to your little corner. Be faithful where you are but have a much larger vision of refilling the entire earth and overwhelming it with the taste of heaven in you. Finally God says have dominion. This dimension is administration. You have to learn to manage your production effectively. This is the realm of stewardship. As you grow, always bear in mind that you are under the authority of God. Never let your success get you out of line with God.
Don’t think little of yourself, but begin to work out your talents, giftings, and abilities, and have a global view of service to humanity. Remember you are God’s manager, in administering heaven’s reality on the earth.
