Joshua 18:3 “How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers has given you?”
When God spoke to Israel about the Promised Land, they had been slaves for hundreds of years, and the thought of conquering Nations was seemingly impossible. However God had spoken to them saying “every place the sole of your feet shall tread upon, I have given to you” (Josh. 1:5). Despite their current state, God was speaking to their future. He spoke to the capacity (or potential) in their hearts. This is typical of God; the principle here is that even though God has given you a promise, we have a responsibility to take (by faith) what has been given.
Too many times we read the promises of God’s word and we sit on a couch, “waiting” for them to be fulfilled, however what we need to understand is that it takes effort on our path to take delivery. Faith is active and not passive. It requires a proactive attitude, one that says, “I know God has spoken, now I have the confidence to act.” When God speaks, He expects that we respond in faith, this means that the confidence ought to be built in our hearts that we are able to do what He has spoken to us about. Most times, the delay in receiving what God has spoken about is not in God’s unwillingness to give, many times it is dependent on our unwillingness to act in faith.
As you believe God for the manifestation of your inheritance as it is written in the Word, you are expected to do everything that God tells you to do. Pay attention to His voice, listen to the inklings of your hearts sanctioned by peace, and do all that is in your heart to do. Notice this verse of Scripture in Deuteronomy 2:24 “…I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin to possess it, and engage him in battle.” We see that God says I have given you, then you begin to possess it.
Is there something you have set your heart on as seen in the Word of God? Begin to posses it, begin to engage yourself with your heart as you trust God in taking full delivery.
