1 Corinthians 13:8 NIV “Love never fails…”
We deal with people on a daily basis, and since there are people with different personalities, backgrounds and experiences, we are bound to be faced with conflicts in our dealings with people. In light of this, Scripture has given us a way to always win in our relationships with people, and this is by walking in love. The love of God is a choice to reflect the nature of God in the heart of a believer. It is by this same love that God won humanity back to Himself. Despite the shortcomings of man, God chose the response of love to set man free from the bondage of the enemy. John 3:16 is a perfect picture of this love; God demonstrated that He loves humanity by the sacrificial giving of His son, Jesus, as an atoning sacrifice.
This God kind of love is not based on the feelings of an individual. It is a choice to bless another, not because you feel they deserve it (or not), but because you judge it the right thing to do in light of God’s view of humanity. No matter what the situation is that we encounter with people, we can always win them over by walking in love. Many may choose to respond to the actions of love being demonstrated, but God makes it clear that love never fails. Even though the actions inspired by love may look like they are not producing results, we can by faith hold on to the truth of God’s Word and know that as we obey God’s commandment of love, we are winning.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 gives the checklist for the attributes of God’s love. For you to live a victorious life, you must first make an adjustment in your heart that is congruence with the love of God, and from there commit yourself to lining up your actions with the attribute of God’s love.
