Ezra 8:22 NIV “…The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him.”
Ezra revealed a secret to living a successful life in the midst of any situation, look towards God. God is “gracious and compassionate” (Ps.145:8). Gracious meaning that He is predisposed towards showing favors, and compassionate in that He is ever ready to show mercy even to those who do not deserve it. When we place our focus (spirit and soul) on Him we get His attention.
It was recorded concerning Jesus that “when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them” (Matt.9:36). He was known as a merciful and gracious master, while on a missionary journey, He was interrupted by a blind man who called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Luk.18:38), and Jesus did heal him. He is still the same merciful and gracious God today.
The reason why many of us seem to be stuck in troublesome situations is because we are looking towards other things (idols), but this angers God. Do we think He is not moving fast enough, and He may need some help? Jonah while in the midst of the his affliction came to a revelation that, “They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.” (Jonah 2:8).
Look to none other, and focus on God. This is the attitude of faith. It holds on till the end. Let your dependency be on Him and on none other. Trust Him alone to provide for you, show you mercy, give you a promotion and bless you! His gracious hand will never fail you!
