Leave what’s comfortable (2)
written by Moyo Mamora
Genesis 12:1, 2 NKJV“Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you”
Abraham lived within an environment that was patriarchal and highly communal. It was the norm for two or three generations to live within the same estate. God called him away from what’s comfortable to follow Him to a destination that was not revealed. This required faith because Abraham had to leave the place of comfort and security and step into the unknown. The outcome of Abraham’s obedience was the blessing.
Though the Bible calls you blessed, you need to take a step of faith outside of what’s comfortable to experience new dimensions of God’s blessing. Philippians 2:13 (NLT) says, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” What desires do you have in your heart? If it is there, then you are able to accomplish it by God’s power in you, and His blessing upon you.
Begin to challenge yourself to accomplish higher goals. Defy the limits of your life. Even though you may be extremely nervous, don’t let that limit you. Acquire what you may be lacking in knowledge, and courageously take the necessary steps to acheive your goals. Apply for that new job, start that business, confront that bad habit, ask that person for forgiveness. Take a step of faith outside of your comfort zone, and you will experience greater dimensions of the blessing on your life.
