Genesis 1:1-3 NIV “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light”
The Bible is progressive revelation of God, and ultimately points to the redemption of mankind through Christ Jesus. God in reintroducing himself to the world through the ministry of Moses to Israel reveals, “In the beginning God…”. The first revelation we see is that it all starts with God. He is the alpha in our lives. In all we do, we must start with Him. The psalmist says, “the fools says in his heart, “There is no God”…” (Ps.14:1). It is an arrogant thing to live ones life without a consciousness of God who is before all things. It requires deliberate effort to constantly set God as priority in all we do.
Next we see that even with the presence of God, there was chaos introduced. God is not the author of confusion (1 Cor.14:33), neither is He the author of destruction. Scriptures reveals that the devil is the thief who comes to steal, kill and destroy (Joh.10:10). For as long as we remain in this world, there will be tribulation because this world is under the sway of the wicked one (Joh.16:33, 1 Joh.5:19). But we are of God, and like God we must act in the midst of chaos. Scripture reveals that “the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep”. Yet God spoke light and form. Hebrews 11:3 reveals that it was by faith through the word of God the world was framed, so that the things which we see were made from things unseen.
Live your life with God at the beginning, and should you run into chaos, be like Him, speak life, light, order, blessings. When you acknowledge Him in all you do as your beginning, He promises to never leave you (Heb.13;5-6). Therefore with confidence you can boldly declare order, light, and life in the midst of the most difficult of circumstances.
