Genesis 3:8 “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day…”
Man was created to live in the presence of God. Genesis reveals that God must have had a practice of coming down in the cool of the day to fellowship with His creation. Fellowship is a deep intimate communion among the same kind. Genesis 1:26 says that man was created in the image and likeness of God to have dominion. Man was given a will and was able to make choices, but we must understand that this doesn’t mean he was created to be sovereign. Man though having a will was expected to be in conformity to the will and purposes of God. The only way this could happen is through consistent fellowship.
Jesus the model Son and also called the last Adam is our example as men, and He said “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise” (John 5:19). In essence the success of one’s life is dependent to the degree of fellowship and conformity to the will of God. Tough times in life should push us deeper into the presence of God because it is there we find the path of life (Ps.16:11)…it is God’s presence that caused Joseph to prosper even while in adverse circumstances (Gen.39:3)…it is in God’s presence we have boldness in faith (Heb.13:5,6)…it is in God’s presence we are protected (Ps.91:1).
Make today a day of deep fellowship. Acknowledge the presence of God that is ever present with you. Say as often as possible today “Lord I acknowledge your presence today…” along with that begin to declare what you know will happen because you are in His presence. Consecrate yourself to God, and choose to make decisions that are in line with His will. If you are facing tough times, go ahead and press deeper in praise, worship, prayer, and fellowship in the Word.
