Genesis 1:28 (NKJV) “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion…””
To have dominion means to rule, to reign, to master, to administer. When God created mankind, He commissioned man with what I like to call a spirit of dominion. God didn’t create humans to have dominion over other people, but over everything apart from another human life. This spirit of dominion is a seed nature that is resident in every human being, and it takes the eternal life of God (the very nature of God in man by His Spirit) for it to be awakened for effective use. God is love and He expects that we reign in life in the spirit of love. People who try to exercise this nature without the love of God in their heart tend to dominate people, and have an obsessive desire for power which in turn becomes self destructive.
Do you find yourself being overwhelmed frequently? Does it seem like there are not enough hours in a day? Maybe it’s the spirit of dominion that is dormant in you. Make a decision to be master over your circumstances, plan to take control of your life. Start out with a ‘to-do’ list, cut out unnecessary activities and prioritize your list. Make sure you are searching your heart for the Spirit of God to give you guidance. Meditate on God’s love, and examine yourself in the light of God’s love, according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
Kings rule by decree, Job 22:28 says “You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you”, so begin to make declarations concerning your life and be in control!
