Matthew 9:28 ““…Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
We face seemingly impossible situations in life, but there is no situation that cannot be overcome through faith in the miracle working abilities of God. Jesus essentially asked the two blind who followed if they believed in miracles. The Bible says in verse 27 that they cried out loud to Jesus for their eyes to be opened. They knew that it was possible for Jesus to work this wonder in their life. They certainly must have heard of the other exploits of Jesus and all the miracles He had done. This was the basis for their cry. But when Jesus asked, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” He was locating their faith, because it was not just important for them to believe in miracles, they had to believe it was possible for them.
Jesus is the same today as He was in the days he walked this earth (Hebrews 13:8). Therefore miracles are still for today, if He did miracles then, He will do them again. The question however is “do you believe He is able to do it in your life?” That’s a question we all have to come to terms with. Faith is a product of revelation from Scripture; the blind men had faith in God’s ability because they had heard of His exploits. Likewise you can find miracles that have been performed in Scripture and build your faith therein, as faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
Jesus’ response to them was “According to your faith let it be to you.” When we approach God with a cry of faith, based on our knowledge of His will through Scripture, He will deliver. Find out what God has said or done in the past from Scripture about your situation, approach Him with the cry of faith, answer the question of if you believe He is able to do it again, if so it will be done for you according to your faith!
