Hebrews 10:23 NIV “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful”
Scripture reveals to us that the things written therein are written so that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope (Rom.15:4). When God speaks, we have a reason to believe and expect. It is in the Word that we find hope. Scripture says that Abraham was given a promise that he will be the father of nations, despite the fact that he was very old; him and his wife, Sarah were passed the age of child bearing, but “against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”” (Rom.4:18)
Abraham’s hope was drawn from what God had promised him. Likewise, the Bible is a book of God’s divine promises to you. Whenever your circumstance contradicts what the Word says, you can find hope in the Word. Don’t set your expectations in life based on your background or what you have gone through, rather set it on the promises of God’s Word. The Scripture said to hold on unswervingly to the hope. This means you should hold tightly to what God has promised. Don’t give up on thinking and speaking based on what God has said. He is faithful to His Word even when we are not because He cannot deny Himself (2 Tim.2:13).
How did Abraham hold tightly to God’s promises? “[Abraham] did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God” (Rom.4:20). Continually praise God on the basis of what His Word says concerning you. In the midst of the seemingly hopeless situation, make a decision to find hope in the promise of God’s Word, and say thank you because God who has promised is faithful!
