James 1:25 (NKJV) “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does”
Too often we have heard that the word of God is the solution to all challenges in life. Yet again, this is absolutely true. We often times judge the effectiveness of the Word based on what we can see around us. However we must first understand that the Word of God is spiritual. The root of everything that we see around us has a spiritual root. The Bible illustrates this in Mark 11 when Jesus cursed the fig tree. Verse 20 says “they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots”. Circumstances in life change from the roots, and it takes spiritual tools to attack problems from the roots. John 6:63 says the word is spirit.
When nothing seems to be working, I remember the illustration of a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps 100 times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the 101st blow it will split in two, and definitely it wasn’t the last blow that did it, but all the blows that have gone before.’
God’s Word is ‘…a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces…’ (Jer. 23:29, NKJV). So, ‘[hold] fast to the word of life. Apply it in every situation of life, and know that it is working up something from the root. We all have issues that we face in life, but what do you do when the pressure really intensifies? Do you just react emotionally or do you press even harder with the Word of God. It is a hammer! Hammer your way through situations in life.
