Zechariah 4:9 NIV “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it…”
Many times it is easy to get something started, but along the way we face resistance that make the process of continuing very frustrating. When we start we are often excited and energized, the passion gets you going, and even when small challenges present themselves you are moving with so much momentum that you burst through them. But what happens when the momentum subsides, and the passion with which you once started begins to fade out?
When God lays an assignment on your heart, or when you have an idea that has God’s approval, you will face challenges, but you have more than enough support to finish. When Paul faced challenges in his ministry he learned to depend on God’s grace to overcome them (2 Cor.12:6-9). When Solomon was given a task to lead the nation of Israel, he asked God for wisdom (2 Chron.1:10). When Caleb was to take on the Promised Land, despite a 40 year wait, he held on to his confession of faith. Persisting in his expectation of God’s promise. Likewise to finish what your hands have started, you will need the grace of God, the wisdom of God, and the persistence of faith!
God has asked that you come boldly to the mercy seat to receive grace for help when you need it (Heb.4:16). He has said that if you lack wisdom ask, and He gives it in abundance without any reservations (Jam.1:5). The strength to continue and persevere is to look onto Jesus, the Living Word, He is the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the worst thing anyone could imagine (Heb.12:1-3). Always remember that with God on your side, nothing can ever be against you, so finish what you have started!
