Deuteronomy 2:24, NET “Get up, make your way across Wadi Arnon. Look! I have already delivered over to you Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Go ahead! Take it! Engage him in war!”
In my study of the word of God, I have grown to understand God. One of the most fundamental teachings that the Bible gives us about God is that we must approach Him in faith, and take the words He speaks as truth by faith (Heb.11:6). Also I have come to understand is that God is a giving God. Not because of anything that we’ve done to merit His gift, but because He is a loving God. His gifts towards us are an act of grace (Rom.11:6). Also because of the laws of time, God operates with mankind in processes through time. Yes in His sovereignty He can interrupt the process of time and do something miraculous, but I find that many times He expects faith from us, and that we trust the process of faith.
Whatever it is God does for us, we have to learn to remain in faith till the process of transfer is completed. In the Scripture above, God declared to Israel that He had given them the land of Sihon (Wadi Arnon). His command to them was that they engage Sihon in battle and take the land. But wait! If God gave them the land, why do they have to engage in war? Faith is a process that takes what God has given. The fact that God has given does not mean there won’t be contenders. The devil has set demons to oppose the victory that we have in Christ Jesus. However when you stand in faith, you will eventually see the promise fulfilled.
You must understand that when you see a promise of God’s love, you believe it, but you will face opposition. But faith doesn’t turn around tail between legs and whine because of opposition. Your faith will engage in a fierce fight for the promise you believe. Stand your ground. Know that the promise is yours, and irrespective of every contrary circumstance that present itself, keep speaking the word of God. The words of your mouth (confession) in alignment with the promise of God’s word is a major weapon in your warfare, likewise your attitude. Don’t act like a wimp, but be bold, be courageous, knowing that the promise belongs to you!
