1 John 5:4, NLT “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.”
As a child of God the outcome of your life has been stated― victory! You may not think so; your life may be looking like a mess, but the Scripture above goes on to say that the key to achieving this victory that has been bequeathed to you is faith. Faith is an absolute dependency on God’s word, followed through with a conscious decision to obey. The battles you face in life are a result of the fact that you live in an evil world that’s under the sway of the devil (1 Joh.5:19). However this isn’t enough to define who you are, you are declared a winner in life.
Notice what 2 Corinthians 2:14 says about you” Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ…” Did you notice he said always? As you follow Christ, you are on a victory train. You may be thinking “I hear all of that, but why do I still have to face challenges”. To answer that, imagine a tyrant warlord that has been in control over a nation for years, and then he is overthrown by a righteous leader loved by the people. This new leader has delegates that he would send to establish control in the different zones. Though the warlord has been overthrown, he would still have under-lords that will try to hold on to territory. It is the responsibility of the righteous to take back what has been won.
Jesus destroyed all the works of the enemy (1Joh.38). He told His disciples in John 16:33, “tribulation would come, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. You have a responsibility to stand your ground in faith. Be relentless; take a stand as a victor, and continually speak the word of God in the face of adversity. Keep getting back up and confront evil and contrary circumstances around you. For as long as you keep fighting you will take hold of the victory that was already yours. Don’t quit!
