Philippians 3:14 NKJV “…I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Paul said I am what I am by the grace of God. This is a man who had accomplish much in his generation, far more than his contemporaries. Yet in his final days he still said “I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal…” (Phil.3:13,14). This attitude, I believe, was the secret to his success and progress. The grace of God was upon him to fulfill his calling, but if you notice, he said, “…His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly…” (1 Cor.15:10). The grace of God kept fueling his passion and his discipline to press on.
Friends, we all have been given a purpose to fulfill, and God has also endowed us with corresponding grace (2 Tim.1:9). It is up to us to set goals in line with this purpose, and press on. The challenges we face on the path to fulfilling purpose are no match for the grace of God. By faith through works (relentless corresponding action), we are able to draw from the grace of God. You must know that where weakness abounds, grace abounds much more (Rom.5:20)
What has God placed on your heart to do? What goals have you set for yourself? Keep working at it, don’t quit and keep reaching for the goal. The difference between you and the person who is further along is that one has learned to keep going because of the abundance of God’s grace.
