Job 32:8 “But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.”
We live in an age where decisions need to be made on well processed information so as to be positioned rightly. Some attribute the quality of information quality to age, and others to experience. While both have their values, the question still remains; what will be relevant to you, and what will work for you? The Bible admonishes in Proverbs 15:22 that in the multitude of counsel, plans are established. But how much counsel is too much counsel? Where does one stop, sometimes having too many options can put you on a standstill (have you heard of analysis leading to paralysis?)
As believers, we ought not be stuck, because there’s the inspiration by the Spirit of God within that helps in carefully making decisions that are profitable. After all is said and done what you ought to be seeking in the midst of any situation is the divine leading by God. 1 John 2:20 says “…but you have an unction from the Holy One and you know all things”. The unction speaks of this same breath of the Almighty. It is an inward prompting to move or take action in a certain way. Some call it a “gut” feeling. But this is more than just a gut feeling. It’s an inward knowing that God is leading you to make a certain decision. It’s the only sure way to know what to do in the midst of an information overload.
So here’s what you do: 1) Seek God in prayer as you consider options that are available to you. He said call on me and I will answer and reveal hidden secrets to you (Jer.33:3). 2) Diligently seek out options and carefully consider them 3) At the point of decision, without hesitation, make decisions based on the inward witness, trusting that your prayers are answered and you are being led of God 4) Spend time rejoicing and thanking God (Ps. 16:8-9)!
