John 14:23-14 KJV “Verily, verily, I say unto you; He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also: and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it.”
Jesus is speaking here, and it is the work of the Holy Spirit to take these words and make them real to us. “He that believeth on Me… greater works than these shall he do.” Jesus said in John 17:17, “Thy word is truth”. When you take up God’s Word you get the truth. God is not the author of confusion or error, but He sends His light and truth to lead us into a place of clarity and boldness in faith. When we receive a revelation of the truth, it’s illumination in our hearts. We can then boldly step into areas in which there was darkness. Fear is dispelled and faith is created. This is truth!
The Word of God works effectually in us as we believe it. It changes us and brings us into new fellowship with the Father, with the Son, and with the Holy Spirit, into a holy communion, into an unwavering faith, into a mighty assurance, and it will make us partakers of the very nature and likeness of God as we receive the truth of His Word and dare to believe them. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Rom.10:17). It is this faith that is the operative power of God to do greater works that is at work in us and through us.
Dare to believe. Do you think that truth is put into the Word to mock you? Don’t you see that God really means that you should live in the world to relieve the oppression of the world? God answers us that we shall be quickened, be molded afresh, that the Word of God shall change everything that needs to be changed, both in us and in others, as we dare to believe and as we command things to be done.
