Confront your fears with the Word

1 Samuel 17:45 “Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied…’”

God created you to be a fearless being, that is why He gave you dominion (Gen.1:26). No situation is ever supposed to take charge over you, you are always to be in charge in all things concerning your life. That’s why He said to man in the beginning “…subdue and have dominion” (Gen.1:28). Sin brought about a consciousness of environmental limitations, and Adam was forced to live life based on what  messages his five senses were sending to his brain. Before then his consciousness was the voice of God and the presence of God. David got a glimpse of this when he said “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me” (Ps.23:4).

When oppositions come against us and threaten our security, like Goliath and the Philistine army were to Israel, we must do what David did. Rather than back down, and cry, we must rise up to the challenge and face the situation. Running away from a problem never fixes it. As a matter of fact as we back down, the enemy becomes even more bold, and hurls greater insults. David though he was no match for Goliath physically, he was more conscious about God. This was God’s original intention for man. This was how God expected man to subdue and have dominion. David took up Goliath’s challenge, and though he may have been trembling in the presence of Goliath, he talked himself up!

Though the challenge looks great, talk yourself up with God’s word, begin to stir up an atmosphere of God’s presence with songs of victory, songs of joy and songs of praise. Don’t back down, but speak boldly the word of God against the situation. As you do this, faith will rise up in your heart, and it is by faith we overcome. “…And this is the victory that has overcome the world—ourfaith” 1 John 5:4. Let the words that come out of your mouth be words of strength and words of courage. When all is send and done, take a step of faith to overcome the challenge, because for sure you will win. Act like it is impossible to fail!
