A New Life in Christ (4)
Galatians 6:8 NIV “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
The Bible reveals that the mind that is after the flesh is death, and the mind after the spirit (i.e. the new life) is life and peace (Rom.8:6). The mind of the flesh refers to a mind that is ruled by the five senses. It is an attitude that seeks to judge every situation based on the facts at hand. This never pleases God because such an individual in this state is prone to the influences of the enemy. The devil can constantly throw interference in your life that will cause you to act in a certain way, and ultimately he will rule your life.
The mind of the spirit is one that is ruled by the Word of God. It is a lifestyle of faith, judging all things on the basis of God’s Word, by the leading of the Spirit. Even though circumstances that threaten arise, one living the new life of the spirit will not be perturbed because of his or her confidence in God’s Word.
To live a transformed life as God intends, you must learn to judge all situations you are faced with by the Word of God. Live the new life in Christ by making the Word of God be your standard for decision making. If any of your actions will conflict with what God’s Word says, then you must choose to side with the Word of God. A person committed to living this way will doubtless live a life in the fullness of the likeness of Christ. Remember He said, “I only do what I see my father doing” (Joh.5:19).
