1 Peter 5:7 (Amplified) “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.”
The Amplified rendering of 1 Peter 5:7 clearly spells out the point of this devotional, which is that Jesus cares for you affectionately and watchfully. Therefore let all your concerns, worries and anxieties be laid at His feet once and for all.
Cares are the things that weigh heavily on our minds, they are seemingly impossible situations that if not resolved will deal a blow to us emotionally. We all go through challenges in life, and cares try to work its way into our lives. However Scripture teaches that we ought not care! This doesn’t mean that your life ought to be careless. Many times people take worrying about different things to mean they are taking responsibility whereas that’s not true. You ought to be responsible in terms of making plans (Prov.22:23). But when it looks beyond your natural abilities, it does not good worrying about it.
The solution is to take it to Jesus, tell Him you are laying all your challenges at His feet ONCE AND FOR ALL! He knows them already, so no need rehearsing it with Him, but once you lay it down, don’t think about it any longer.
The point is that you ought not be worried about anything, but make these things known to God, and in turn receive His peace, and think upon beautiful things, and God’s ability to deliver you and how His has done so in the past (Phil.4:6)
I’ll leave you with this song What a friend we have in Jesus…a key phrase in there is “oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bare….all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer”
