Psalm 31:24 “Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”
As we go through life there are bound to be many unexpected events that will attempt to steal our joy, weaken our faith and in general demoralize us. However God did not leave us unprepared for the events of this world. Jesus, when He was preparing His disciples before His departure said, “in this world you will have tribulation, but be encouraged, I have overcome the world” (Joh.16:33). The instruction was to be encouraged, to remain positive, to remain expectant because through His victory, we also have victory.
Paul in writing to the church at Corinth said, “Thanks be to God who always gives us the victory in Christ Jesus” (1 Cor.15:57). In essence, our victory is not in our own might, but it is in Christ we win. When God was to prepare Joshua for leadership and battle to possess the promised land, He often said, “be strong and courageous” (Josh.1:6,7,9,18). How was Joshua to be strong and courageous? By keeping is eyes on God! (Josh.1:8)
Likewise, in the midst of life’s adversity, you must remain strong and courageous. Set your expectation on God. Strengthen your faith in the promises of God, and keep hope active and alive in all situations. Don’t waver, but continual give God praise for the victory that He has won for you.
