Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised”
When you set your heart on something there will be challenges and discouragement along the way. God is faithful in His promises, and we have a responsibility to take Him at His Word and be unwavering in our expectation. The times of discouragement and difficulty are like Israel’s wilderness experience. Notice Deuteronomy 8:2 “Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.” God led them through the wilderness to prepare them. How badly do you want what is in your heart?
Also notice that they did not lack anything while they were in the wilderness; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell during the forty years. He fed them with manna and gave them water from the rock. (Deut.8:1-9). The test is a test of faithfulness. All along the way God desires that you put your absolute trust in Him. Even though the journey towards the destination may be long and daunting, He will continually supply you with the grace to continue.
The writer in Hebrews crowns it for us, he admonishes that we remain confident! Adversity and discouragement can cause us to lose our confidence along the way, but your confidence is like the spine that holds your faith up, never lose it! If you remain confident, God promises that you will greatly rewarded. He is faithful in what He has promised or placed in your heart. You have to remain persistent in your expectation, and you will receive what it is that you desire.
