Luke 11:8 NIV “I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.”
Jesus is teaching His disciples concerning prayer, and in His teaching He gives a parable of a man who late at night persistently asked his neighbor for bread to feed the late night arrival of guests. Jesus pointed that even though the friend will not get up because of the friendship but the persistence and “shameless audacity” will produce results. Likewise in your life there are things that you have to do, people you have to follow up with etc. You may feel timid, most times, it’s the devil trying to keep you away from what really belongs to you. 2 Timothy 1:7 reveals that God has not given you a spirit of timidity, but one of boldness!
When you pray to God, you believe He hears you, and because of that your request is granted (1 John 5:17), now you must remain persistent in your expectation. You constantly thank Him for the answered prayer. The act of giving thanks is a demonstration of your faith and confidence in God. Romans 4:20-21 shows Abraham while waiting on God for Isaac,”…did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
Faith involves a persistent use of means while maintaining your expectation. So continue to knock on doors, ask question, and seek, because “everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Luk.11:10)
