Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.”
We have often planted seeds of faith, words, money, and time into the kingdom of God, and we continue to do so, but we sometimes don’t see the results. It seems like the harvest is delayed. We need to remember, though, that between the seed and the harvest is “time“. Our spiritual seeds, just like natural seeds, need time to grow. During that time certain things must occur. A natural seed or plant requires sunlight, water, and grooming in order to grow and produce fruit. Let’s relate this to spiritual seeds.
1) Sunlight: The Bible says the entrance and unfolding of the Word brings light (Psa. 119:130). We shine light on our seeds by speaking the Word of God over them. It is like food to our seeds.
2) Water: In Ephesians 5:26 we see that the Word is water. Also John 6:63 says the Word is full of Spirit and life and later in John 7:38-39, Jesus refers to the Spirit as living water. Therefore, the Word is living water. The water necessary for the growth of our seeds is the Word.
3) Grooming: Also in Ephesians 5, Jesus or the bridegroom “grooms” His “bride”, by the washing with water through the Word, presenting her…without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish. Hence, we groom or take care of our planted seeds with the Word of God.
The time between seed and harvest is not a period to doubt God’s promises because we can’t see the evidence. It is a time to walk in the Word – to believe it, to declare it and to believe again, no matter what we see.
