Acts 2:32 NIV “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.”

What is it about death that is so vile? Deep within everyone, at the face of death there is something that “screams”, NO. This is because man was created an eternal spirit. It was never intended by God for man to die. The heart of every man recognizes this, hence the stiff resistance to death. For the Christian, this ought to be different. Jesus is the author of life. In His resurrection, God demonstrated this, and showed His authority over death. The cornerstone of the Christian faith is in the resurrection of Christ Jesus. It is what gives us hope. Because firstly, it proves that death is not final for the sons of God, rather it is a transition into a more glorious life. However, before we can enjoy this ‘after-life’, we must give room in our hearts today, in this life, to Jesus who is the author of life.

It is when we have allowed the living word find expression in us that we are able to enjoy the benefits of this life today. The life of God is a regenerative  and restorative life. Jesus in John 10:10 said that I have come that you may have life, juxtaposing it against the death, theft, and destruction that comes from the devil. Romans 8:11 also goes on to reveal that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells within the believing Christian and will therefore quicken the mortal body of the believer in the here and now. Despite all this, Paul in teaching the Corinthian church revealed that the very last enemy to be destroyed is death (1 Cor. 15:26). In essence the death of the body will come, but in the meantime, we have dominion over death. We need not fear death in any form; in our lives, family, relationships, finances, health etc.

Jesus is the living word. The first step to dominating death is to believe on His name (Joh.3:16). Next we must allow the word of God be resident in our hearts. As we give room to the Word to find expression in our thinking and behavior, we allow for the creativity of the life of God through us. We begin to experience the restorative and regenerative nature of this life in the various aspects of our daily living. Start living today, because life without the author of life is no life!
